Green Crack — strain review

Green Crack (originally called Cush, renamed by Snoop Dogg in the mid-2000s) is the daytime sativa most users name when asked for a clean energy strain. Bred in Athens, Georgia from Skunk #1 genetics, it became commercially famous because the effect profile is unusually consistent — fast onset, sharp clarity, no body soak, no come-down. Despite the provocative name, it has nothing to do with crack cocaine; the name refers to the energetic effect. Our current batch tests at 23.7% THCa.

Strain profile

Strain bucket: Sativa-dominant (~80/20) Lineage: Skunk #1 phenotype, selected and stabilized Dominant terpene: Myrcene with caryophyllene and pinene as supporting notes — uncommon profile for a sativa, which typically explains the slightly different energy character vs. limonene-driven strains Typical THCa range: 20-26%; our recent batches 22-25% Use time: Morning to early afternoon Flavor profile: Sweet mango-citrus, slightly tropical, with an earthy backbone. One of the more pleasant pure-sativa flavors in the catalog.

Effects — what to expect

Green Crack produces what most users describe as a fast clean energy lift — onset 5-10 min, peak around 20 min. The effect is more "alert and focused" than "euphoric" — closer to a third cup of coffee than to a typical mood-lift sativa.

Duration: 2-3 hours of pronounced effects with a smooth taper. No crash, no body soak, no significant residual.

What it's good for: morning chores, getting out of a fatigue rut, light exercise, errands, productive afternoons, replacing or supplementing your second coffee.

What it's NOT good for: relaxation (it's the opposite), anything close to bedtime (you won't sleep for 4+ hours), anxiety-prone users at high doses (the energetic edge can become jittery).

How to dose Green Crack

For new or low-tolerance users:

  • One puff of 22%+ Green Crack. Wait 10 min. Onset is fast — you'll know quickly.
  • Don't combine with strong coffee on your first try; the energy stacks fast.

For experienced users:

  • 1-2 puff morning session. Re-dose every 2 hours if you want to keep the effect going.
  • Pairs well with light caffeine (one cup of coffee). Avoid stacking with energy drinks or strong stimulants.

Avoid: high doses for anxiety-prone users, evening use (sleep disruption is real), pre-workout if you have heart conditions (the cerebral edge can elevate heart rate noticeably).

Who should try Green Crack

Yes if: you specifically want clean daytime energy without euphoria, you've found other sativas too heavy on the mood-lift side, or you want to replace or supplement a coffee habit.

Maybe if: you're new to cannabis — Green Crack at full dose is more "active" than other beginner-friendly sativas. One puff is plenty.

Skip if: you have anxiety triggers around stimulant feelings, you want a relaxing or social strain, or you don't like the slight jittery edge that comes with high-energy sativas.

Frequently asked questions

Why is it called Green Crack?

The strain was originally called "Cush" by the breeder. Snoop Dogg renamed it after experiencing the energetic effect — "this hits like crack." The name has no connection to crack cocaine; it refers to the alertness profile. Some dispensaries still sell it under the original "Cush" name.

Is Green Crack stronger than Sour Diesel?

Comparable potency (22-25% vs. 26-28% range). The character is different: Sour Diesel is more euphoric and cerebrally activating; Green Crack is more "active alert." For pure energy and focus without mood-lift, Green Crack wins.

How does Green Crack compare to Durban Poison?

Both pure-sativa daytime energizers. Durban Poison is sharper and more wired; Green Crack is steadier and slightly more functional. Durban for energy bursts, Green Crack for sustained productive afternoons.

Will Green Crack make me anxious?

Risk is meaningful at high doses (3+ puffs in a session) for anxiety-prone users. At 1-2 puff doses, most users find it stimulating without anxiety. If you have a history of cannabis-induced anxiety, try one puff and assess at 30 min before deciding on more.
